Defence by deceit, by Abdu Labaran Malumfashi

A number of those who write, appearing to attack President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, always start with a tirade against the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, blaming him for the many ills in the country presently.

They alleged that his support gave the bandits the courage to perpetrate the beastly atrocities that they committed during his presidency.

Not only that, they also accused him of supporting the emergence of President Tinubu as the number one citizen of Nigeria. They say Tinubu’s unfettered access to the Villa during the Buhari second coming was a vote of confidence passed on the so-called ‘leader of the party (APC)’, as Senator Tinubu was then referred to.

Then they go into the ‘ATTACK’ of the Tinubu administration as if that is their actual “raison d’être for the write-up. It is anything but that. It is a sponsored defence garbed in the apparel of attack.

Otherwise, there is absolutely no rationale in blaming Buhari for supporting the bandits whose crimes have become even more barbaric and frequent, when he has been dead for nearly fifty (50) days now.

Again, the then Minister of Communication, Sheikh Isa Ali Fantami, who served under Buhari, was never stopped by the President when he innovated a novel way of tracking the bandits and used the method to track the non-state actors. But for reasons known to them, they refused to employ the way he devised for them. The man is alive and kicking to verify this allegation.

Muhammadu Buhari did not support Tinubu to be his successor. He threw in his presidential support for Senator Lawan Ahmed during the ruling party’s presidential primaries. But it was not to be, and being the complete Democrat that he was, the then-President allowed the result of the primary to stand.

What the immediate past president continued to support up to the end of his life was the political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), but not the current President, whose policies have been causing untold suffering to the majority of Nigerian citizens.

The present president started his quest for the office of a country he does “not believe” in, by deceit, organising an annual COLLOQUIUM in Lagos, his home state capital. And leading personalities in the country, including governors and captains of industries, were invited to the event with the promise that the decisions arrived at the colloquium would be used to guide the economic and sociopolitical development of the country, whenever the organiser becomes president.

Which, with the benefit of hindsight, is one big lie told to deceive the non-Lagosian attendees. The main purpose was to make Lagos state and himself very rich, as the venue of the event belonged to him, and Lagos would reap revenue for being the host state.

Nigerians should be wary of these seemingly anti-Tinubu articles. To all intents and purposes, they appear so. But read between the lines, and the truth hidden in them will blow your mind. So always read them with an open mind.

May God protect us from the deceit of those who will go to any lengths to deceive us.
