Iran vows to stand by Qatar after deadly Israeli strike on Doha – Iranian Chief of Staff
Iran’s top military commander has pledged full support for Qatar following Israel’s airstrike on Doha. Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi told Qatari Defence Minister Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani that Iran’s armed forces “will never hesitate to support our Qatari brothers,” condemning the strike as criminal and terroristic.
The attack on Tuesday targeted Hamas officials meeting in Doha to discuss a US ceasefire plan for Gaza. At least six people were killed, including five Hamas members and a Qatari officer. Tehran denounced the strike as a violation of sovereignty and international law.

Mousavi said ties between Iran and Qatar were built on brotherhood and warned that Tehran would not abandon Doha against its enemies. He accused the “criminal Zionist regime” of destabilising the region and blamed the United States for giving Israel “unconditional backing.”
The Qatari minister branded the attack terrorism and thanked Iran for its solidarity. He said Israel had crossed every red line and called for further talks with Tehran on ways to confront such aggression.
Global reaction was swift. Russia condemned the strike as a breach of the UN Charter, while Germany called it unacceptable. Even the US, a key ally of Israel, admitted the assault did not serve American or Israeli interests.

Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani accused Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu of destroying hopes for a hostage release in Gaza, saying the strike had undermined delicate mediation efforts.
Reports suggest senior Hamas figures survived the raid, casting doubt on Israel’s claims of success. Israeli officials have warned that if missed now, the leaders will remain targets in future operations.
The strike has intensified regional tensions and could isolate Israel diplomatically. Iran has seized on the incident to strengthen its position, vowing to stand with Qatar “until the end.”
