Iran calls for Muslim unity after Israeli airstrike on Qatar, urges strong regional response

Iran has condemned a recent Israeli airstrike on Hamas officials in Doha, Qatar, calling it a flagrant violation of international law and an attack on Qatari sovereignty.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in a phone call, expressing full solidarity with Qatar and insisting that Muslim nations must take a unified stand against this aggression.

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also urged coordinated and strong action among Muslim states to counter what he described as Israeli aggression, calling the attack an act of state terrorism.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that only a collective and decisive response from Islamic countries can deter further attacks, emphasising that Qatar’s civilian population was targeted. He offered condolences and solidarity with both Qatari and Palestinian victims.

The Qatari Emir echoed Iran’s call for a regional unified front, arguing that diplomacy was undermined when the strike targeted a meeting where cease-fire proposals were being discussed.

Iranian statements also called on international and Islamic bodies, including the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, to issue firm condemnation and take practical steps in response.

Observers warn that these developments risk further escalation in the region, as trust in diplomatic channels may erode, and calls for accountability and collective security among Muslim nations gain growing traction.
