Police arrest 21-year-old mother of 2 for stabbing partner to death
A 21-year-old mother of two, identified as Lilian, has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly stabbing her 34-year-old partner to death during a domestic dispute.
According to police spokesperson Bright Edafe, Lilian had been living with the deceased for four years, starting when she was 17, and they had two children together.
The altercation reportedly began when Lilian asked her partner to help recharge their electricity meter and he ignored her. This led to a heated argument, during which he beat her with a cane and smashed her head on the ground.

In a desperate move, Lilian ran to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and stabbed him in the chest when he advanced towards her. She claimed she acted in self-defense, stating her partner tried to end their relationship, which led to the violent confrontation.
Lilian expressed regret, saying, “I am not happy that he is dead.”
The police have confirmed that Lilian will be charged with murder. Edafe urged Nigerians to control their temper to avoid such tragic outcomes, questioning the societal factors, such as early cohabitation and parental responsibility, that contribute to these incidents.
