Yobe gov’t, security chiefs adopt sustainable measures to improve security

Story by Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu

The Yobe State Government has commended heads of the state’s security agencies for their pivotal role in establishing and sustaining a period of notable peace across the state.

The commendation was delivered on Monday by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, who presided over the 13th Routine State Security Meeting at the Government House in Damaturu on behalf of Governor Mai Mala Buni.

The meeting, which brought together top security chiefs, served as a platform to review the current security situation and strategies on maintaining the positive momentum.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Governor Gubana conveyed Governor Buni’s deep appreciation for the security operatives’ dedicated work.

He announced a significant decline in major security incidents, attributing the improved security landscape directly to their efforts.

“The state is experiencing a notable period of peace, not only from the cycle of insurgency but also from other criminal activities such as banditry and kidnapping,” Gubana stated.

He emphasised that the primary objective of the meeting was to build upon this hard-won progress.

However, he maintained that key challenges persist, specifically naming the conflicts between farmers and herders, alongside other criminal acts including rape.

According to the Deputy Governor, the state government and security chiefs are committed to implementing refined and robust approaches to reduce and ultimately eradicate these issues, ensuring the safety and security of all residents.

The meeting concluded with a reinforced action plan aimed at securing lives and property across the state.
