Governor Alia suspends SUBEB chairman, 2 others over assembly resolution

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue has suspended several key officials, including the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Grace Adagba, in response to a resolution from the State House of Assembly.

In a statement released by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Tersoo Kula, it was announced that Adagba was suspended for one month. This action follows the House of Assembly’s resolution to suspend her for six months to allow for an investigation into her activities at the board.

The suspensions also extended to the Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Mr. Maxwell Ogiri, and the Executive Secretary of the Lottery Commission, Mr. Michael Uper, who were each suspended for a month.

Governor Alia emphasised his unwavering commitment to the “rule of law, due process, and the principles of separation of powers.”
