Lawmaker renovates 80 cemeteries as constituency project

A member of the House of Representatives, Kabiru Mai Palace, has renovated 80 cemeteries in his constituency in Zamfara State. The lawmaker, who represents the Gusau/Tsafe federal constituency, said the project was part of his second-year anniversary as a legislator.

Speaking at the project’s inauguration on Tuesday, Mai Palace, who also chairs the House Committee on Sports, highlighted the importance of the initiative. “We had noticed the dilapidated conditions of our cemeteries in various communities across my constituency,” he said.

He emphasised the universal nature of death, stating, “As human beings, we know one day, all of us are going to be buried here; therefore, we must ensure we do good to improve the conditions of our last home.” He added that “in Islam, we know the value of keeping cemeteries in good condition. It prevents various disasters and calamities in society.”

Mai Palace also pledged to hire cemetery guards, provide allowances for workers, and supply them with the necessary tools.

In addition to the cemetery project, the legislator also empowered his constituents by distributing tricycles and motorcycles across the constituency.
