Spinal cord injury survivors cry out for help in Kano

The Kano State Chapter of the Spinal Cord Injury Association has paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Disabled, in preparation for the upcoming International Day of Spinal Cord Injury, scheduled for September 5.

During the visit, the Chairman of the association, Abdulraman Uba Daushe, said the program aims to raise awareness among spinal cord injury victims on proper self-care and long-term management.

He also stressed the importance of educating the public on how to handle accident victims to prevent secondary injuries during emergency response.
The day provides an opportunity for victims to share their stories and challenges. Through this, we foster community support and offer critical items such as wheelchairs, diapers, and other essential medical supplies,

Responding on behalf of the Commissioner, Director of Special Duties, Mairo Halliru Haruna, appreciated the efforts of the association and assured them of the Ministry’s full support.

She emphasised that the Ministry, under the leadership of the Commissioner, is committed to supporting persons with disabilities and would continue to provide the needed assistance to reduce the burden on spinal cord injury survivors.

The visit featured fruitful discussions between the Ministry’s directors and the association’s representatives on areas of collaboration, support, and sustainable intervention for affected individuals.
