Inter Milian defeats Barcelona 4-3 to reach Champions League finals

The Inter Milan vs Barcelona Champions League clash ended on a thrilling note as the Nerazzurri booked their place in the final.

Simone Inzaghi’s men emerged victorious with a thrilling 4-3 win on the night and 7-6 on aggregate, thanks to a last-gasp strike by Davide Frattesi.

Held under the rain-soaked skies of Milan, the San Siro was the stage for an unforgettable European battle that saw momentum swing wildly between the two giants of European football.

Inter came into the match with confidence after the 3-3 draw in Spain.

They started strong, with Lautaro Martínez breaking the deadlock and Hakan Çalhanoğlu doubling the lead from the spot in first-half stoppage time.

At that point, Inter Milan looked well on course for the Champions League final.

However, Barcelona responded fiercely in the second half.

Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo both scored to bring the Catalan side level, capitalising on sharp assists from Gerard Martin.

With the tie in the balance, Raphinha gave Barcelona the lead in the 87th minute, completing a dramatic comeback and pushing Inter to the brink of elimination.

However, in the second minute of added time, Francesco Acerbi stunned the visitors by turning in a cross from Denzel Dumfries, sending the tie into extra time.

That moment shifted the energy in San Siro, reviving the home side’s belief and deflating the already-celebrating Barcelona fans.

In extra time, Davide Frattesi produced a moment of magic in the 99th minute, driving home the decisive goal and writing his name into Champions League folklore.

It was his seventh goal of the season and by far the most significant.

Inter Milan fans erupted in jubilation, sensing they were just one step away from European glory.

Yann Sommer, Inter’s goalkeeper, also played a key role in the win, making a series of sensational saves especially one from Lamine Yamal in the 113th minute that preserved Inter’s lead.

With this result, Inter Milan advances to the Champions League final, where they will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Arsenal later this month in Munich.

The Nerazzurri are now on the brink of clinching their fourth Champions League crown and their second final appearance in three seasons.

Despite domestic setbacks like losing ground to Napoli in Serie A and being eliminated from the Coppa Italia by AC Milan, Inter’s European campaign has revived hopes for silverware.
