Tinubu rejects Adamawa education university Bill
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rejected the Federal University of Education, Numan (Establishment) Bill, 2024, citing legal and typographical errors in the document passed by the National Assembly.
In a letter dated January 10, 2025, read by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas during Tuesday’s plenary session, the President outlined four main reasons for his decision.

Firstly, President Tinubu pointed out that Section 22 of the bill improperly grants state governors the power to approve the disposal of land belonging to the university, which is a federal institution, rather than the President, as should be the case for federal government entities.
Additionally, the President noted several typographical errors, including the misspelling of “statutes” as “statues” in two instances, the omission of the preposition “of” in an important clause, and the incorrect spelling of “one-third” as “on-third.”
The letter, sent in accordance with Section 58(4) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), explained that President Tinubu’s decision was based on these issues, which needed to be addressed before the bill could proceed.
