Ex-Inspector arrested for illegal stop-and-search
A retired police inspector, Linus Monday, has been accused of carrying out a stop-and-search operation despite no longer being an active officer.
The incident, captured on Instagram by whiteshark_blog, shows Monday in full police uniform, complete with his ID card number 6257. The post quickly garnered significant attention, receiving 175 likes and over 30 comments.
While the exact location of the incident remains unclear, reports indicate that Monday was later paraded at a local police division. One commenter, _shopoing_for_free, suggested that others may have been involved, questioning how a stop-and-search could be carried out by just one person. Another user, alhaji_highway, linked Monday’s actions to potential bribery issues, calling it an example of “bribery addiction.”
In a separate case, Rabiu Sani was arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command for impersonating a police officer for over a decade. His arrest came after credible intelligence uncovered his illegal activities. Sani had been posing as a police officer and regularly visited courts and police divisions.
According to Police Public Relations Officer ASP Mansir Hassan, a fake police ID card was seized from Sani, who admitted to his crimes. “He has been operating in court premises for over 10 years. We are now working to identify and arrest others involved in this impersonation ring,” Hassan stated.
Sani confessed to his actions during his police parade, explaining, “I loved police work, but I never participated in patrols or field operations. I know impersonation is a crime, and I seek forgiveness.”
