How disciple impregnated new convert entrusted to him – Evangelist laments

Evangelist Isaac Omolehin, founder of the Word Assembly Ministries, has shared a heartbreaking story of moral failure within his congregation, revealing how a disciple impregnated a new convert entrusted to him for mentorship.

Speaking during the World Faith Believers Convention hosted by Pastor Poju Oyemade’s The Covenant Nation, the Ilorin-based cleric, known for his uncompromising teachings, lamented the state of spiritual decline within many Christian communities.

Evangelist Omolehin, fondly called Baba Omolehin, warned that many church leaders have turned a blind eye to the growing moral decline in their congregations.

“When our leaders have deliberately arranged to put us in organised chaos, it becomes more difficult to correct because you are sailing against the current. There are more destroying [the body of Christ] than those repairing it,” he said.

He added that some repairers of the faith are growing weary and have resigned to accepting the signs of the end times, while others like himself are determined to confront the spiritual sickness plaguing the church.

Sharing a troubling example, Baba Omolehin recounted how a convert brought to Christ during an evangelism drive ended up in a dire situation.

“My wife runs an orphanage. One day, the leaders of the Christian union at one of the universities brought a baby and the mother to her. They explained that the young woman had given her life to Christ during evangelism, and we entrusted her to a disciple for follow-up. Tragically, instead of spiritual mentorship, the disciple impregnated her. The baby is now in the orphanage,” he revealed.

He criticised the use of teachings on grace to excuse sin, stating, “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid! The question is: how did this person become a leader in the church?”

Baba Omolehin expressed additional concerns over the erosion of proper discipleship and leadership in the church.

He narrated how youths from his church returned from their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with claims of being ordained, despite lacking the necessary spiritual maturity and training.

“When you were here in our church, we still put you in Sunday school and Bible study,” he recalled confronting one youth. “Now you come back saying you’ve been ordained? What are you saying?”

The evangelist cautioned the congregation against spiritual apathy, urging them to return to the faith’s foundational principles.

“Our spiritual senses have become deadened. Our capacity to recognise decadence and run away from it is gone. Our conscience has become gangrenous, and we’ve lost the ability to feel spiritually. This was not so in the beginning,” he lamented.
