80-year-old Colombian national found dead in Lagos hotel
An 80-year-old Colombian national, Quesada Vanegas Ricardo Alfonso, has been found dead inside his hotel room at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Festac Town, Lagos State.
The discovery has already sparked a police investigation to unravel the circumstances of his death.
The lifeless body of Mr. Alfonso was discovered in Room C85 on the 8th floor at approximately 3:45pm on May 1, according to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.
The police image maker said homicide detectives and other police officers were immediately deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call.
Preliminary findings suggest Mr. Alfonso had been residing at the hotel for over four months prior to his death.

No visible injuries or signs of foul play were observed, police sources confirmed.
The body has been moved to the Mainland General Hospital morgue in Yaba and preserved for autopsy. Authorities have also launched a coroner’s inquest as part of legal procedures to determine the cause of death
Some members of the hotel’s management were briefly detained for failing to maintain accurate guest records but were later released after questioning.
The Lagos State Police Command has pledged a thorough investigation and urged the public to await the official autopsy report.
